Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

I just checked the SOAR website and didn't have any problems. Maybe your computer malfunctioned.

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

I looked at the map posted by Ice Man and compared it to the FAA application. Turbines X1, X2, and X3 are not listed on the FAA application. It appears that Gamesa has applied for only 25 turbines to be approved through the FAA, not 28. Why the discrepancy?

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

I spent part of the afternoon looking over Gamesa's application for the various permits required by DEP. The Blair Co. Conservation District has the maps and narratives for the application. I thought it was odd that their Erosion and Sedimentation application listed 28 turbines, while their NPDES ap...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

I would like to know more about what impact they have on overall electicity production. They mentioned that the power lines get tied into a "grid" that services many areas around the Allegheny Mountains. Sure, maybe we don't benefit directly from any reduction in electrical costs, but it ...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

The windmill vote failed. with a tie vote 3-3 -Grazier,Werner, and Bryan voting yes; and Kosoglow Hanzir and Kilmartin voting no....Latchford abstained and Stoner is in the hospital.Does not pass! I thought it noteworthy that Kosoglow explained before the vote that he was not voting against wind on...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

This well-written letter sheds new light on the validity of survey questions, while supporting much of what we know about wind energy.  It would be interesting to use Zampogna’s suggestions to analyze the questions in the Tyrone survey... http://www.thedailynewsonline.com/articles/2009/01/09/opinion...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

kayaker-1 I would love to see the video also. You tube would be a great place to post it. Much more exposure. I appreciate all the requests to post the video of the Dec. 5 meeting, but I don't want to provide misinformation such as was presented by Gamesa at the meeting. Their answers to many of th...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

As much as I didn't want to pop back in here I just had to....I spent 5 hours today walking through snow and knocking on doors up in the Portage / Blue Knob area. If my mind weren't already made up it is most certainly solidified now. At every stop of my ride through the Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm.....

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

I was at the Gamesa meeting on Dec. 5, and I'm wondering if Ellen Lutz followed up on her promise to provide Tamara's contact information to Mr. Latchford. I'm a member of TNC and I found it hard to believe what Ellen said, so I called TNC and talked to Tamara Gagnolet, the person that Ellen quoted....

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain

I have the destinction of having 6 wind turbines sourrounding my farm in blue knob. Every resource tells me that this is equivelent to a refridgerator running. All I can say is that at times, I can hear this inside my home, doors and windows closed, OVER my refridgerator. Our township has agreed to...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain

I just found on FERC's website the Electric Quarterly Report filing by Gamesa showing how much electricity their 80 MW Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm generated in all of July, August and September of this year. PA's newest and largest "wind farm" produced only 14,604 MWh over this 3 month peri...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain

I'm impressed that so much information is being shared on this site about wind turbines. I visited the turbines near Lilly and at Blue Knob and can't get over how huge they are. The 60 foot wide roads and the huge substation near Lilly have turned the forest into an industrial zone. When I think of ...
