Re: East End sold
I heard from a family member of the former ownership that Bill will be serving East End Hoagies. New ownership, same menu. I'm glad. Bill's a great guy - I ran into him during military service, and went through a special duty training school (and was later assigned at the same posting) with him. An...

Re: East End sold
Just hung up the phone with my Mom - she told me that Bill Kirkpatrick owns the local Subway franchise, and is thus the one who bought East End.

Re: New Grocery Store For Tyrone
BB....you forgot the Acme :) I didn't forget it - I just purge it from my memory. You see, when I was a little kid, I was such a hellion that I was banned from many Tyrone businesses. Well, with Acme starting with an "A" - it was just always at the top of the list (even above the A&P,...

Re: East End sold
Hey - that's really great news. I'll have to try the new "East End Onionator" here at one of the Myrtle Beach franchises; I should be able to pick one up this morning when I get done with my daily 25-mile jog/swim/bicycle ride. I will then, based on memories, post my fair and unbiased comp...

Re: New Grocery Store For Tyrone
Wow! Those were the days my friends...................................... Well - I wouldn't buy groceries anyway if I returned home for a visit. I'd eat out every meal. Pizza from Mario's and the Hub. Burgers, fries, and a shake from the Lion's Inn. Steak sandwich and a bucket from Country School C...

Re: New Grocery Store For Tyrone
I can't understand why Tyrone needs ANOTHER grocery store. You've already got: 1. The A&P at the far south end of PA Avenue (at the "tip" of the "hardman"). 2. Ray's Riverside over there beside the railroad tracks. 3. The Foodland out there behind Butch Harlow's gas station. ...

Re: New grocery store in Tyrone - with a twist
A vegan grocery store is better than no grocery store at all!!!!! I hear that the owner/proprietor is a guy who is quite experienced in providing for small-town needs - and feels he's just keeping up with the times. Got a heads-up on this; below is his picture: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i26...

Re: What A Change
... While at the game I noticed three Tyrone police officers and couldn't help thinking that (a) they seemed so young and (b) that one had really big ears! Hmmm...a few years back - it seemed like all of them had curly brown hair, a mustache, and wore wire-rimmed glasses. But then again, what do I ...

Re: Regarding the Letter to the Editor in July 24ths paper
You can rest assure that I am trying my best to win the lottery down here in North Carolina so I can return to my beloved Tyrone and open any business you need! :bluebounce: Well, whatever business you'd open in Tyrone would do better than... ...that snowmobile dealership I opened a few years ago h...

Re: Regarding the Letter to the Editor in July 24ths paper
I agree with Banksy. When I heard that 220 around Tyrone was becoming I-99, I thought for sure that the economics and other factors around Tyrone would make it favorable to create at least a few typical businesses that could exploit such travel. Lodging, fuel, food, etc. Typically, a traditionally e...

Rumor has it that the Borough has asked her to write a position paper. ...local newspapers have already gotten their hands on an unverified copy... Hey! Hey!! HEY!!! She PLAGIARIZED that! That is the EXACT SAME position paper I wrote, around 1978 or so, when I was on the Tyrone Police force. Except...

Well, if you're going to have flooding - get it out of the way now.
Otherwise, it tends to really screw up that cherished traditional local holiday back there known as "The First Day of Trout Season". :fogey:
