Re: Election Day 5/19/09

I don't live in Tyrone any more so I'm not always up on the local news.

Where does the wind turbine project stand right now? Can it still be stopped or has it been given a complete green light?

Re: snyder township

Does anything other than roundup kill crabgrass once it is in place (other than freezing temps?) I thought the only thing you could apply was a pre-emergent, but if it was already there I didn't think you could do anything. This stuff has worked well for me http://www.bayeradvanced.com/productFamil...

Re: Hoagie Wars or other news?

... I have had both, and I can honestly say that in my opinion, while Mac's is a excellent substitute, East Ends hoagies are the better of the two and I would always go to East End over Mac's any day of the week. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather have * : - A Marios pizza. - A bucket of chicken, o...

Re: Growing up in the 70's and 80's

As a kid in the 70's walking down the streets and alleys of Tyrone with out fear... Well... ...Tyrone certainly DID have some great police officers back in the 70s and 80s to keep things safe! http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i26/Beachbiker/avatars/AvatarTPD.jpg :fogey: :wall: :jester: Really? Hoagie Wars or other news?

I'll be making my annual (or sometimes semi-annual) pilgrimage to Tyrone in about a month. Are the "Hoagie Wars" :mob: still raging? Is there any other noteworthy local news?

Re: Out of Towner moving in

I'm familiar with Giessen, or at least I used to be. I haven't been there since the early 90's. I wish I could be more help as what to do in Tyrone, but I haven't lived there since right after I graduated high school. There was never a lot to do there in those days unless you were into hiking or sim...

Re: Out of Towner moving in

My husband is getting out of the military and enrolling in State College. We bought a house in Tyrone....only one we could afford that had land with it. I was kinda shocked by some of the housing. I know the people were smartasses, but friendly, so right up my alley. Having come from Germany I spen...

Re: Tyrone PD

I haven't lived in Tyrone since 1976, but to me it is and always will be "home". I just hope that whatever is going on that the facts come out and this issue is resolved for the sake of the community. :flag:

Re: Hoagies and Hub Pizza

Eva Britton was the woman that worked in the hub making pizzas when we were kids, Mike. And Keinzle's bakery left Tyrone before you did. the Panasiti's owned the Villa and the Hub until the Hub was bought by Ed Stuckroth, the guy who owned it when it was beside the bridge. He was the little short f...

No trip to Tyrone would be complete without a trip to Gardners Candy. The kids would never forgive me!

Re: Class of 1976

Thanks Carl, I'll let my wife (TAHS Class of 1976) know later this morning. By coincidence, she is considering visiting back in Tyrone that week for a family reunion. That would be great! We hope to see as many as possible from the class of '76! And of course family is welcome too! We aren't planni...
