Hi all,

Hey, what was the end result of the TAHS football season?

I couldn't tune in to the playoff games because of work, the posts here just ended with at least one game on tap, and the news part of tyronepa.com, of course, was DOA during that time frame...

Probably a lot of it has to do with how much of their expenses are covered by advertising, which is generally the largest income for a periodical; as opposed to actual copy price to individual-copy and subscribing customers. You may find a larger city newspaper that charges about the same as The Her...

Fireman33, Thank you for the information and updates. Generally over the years, many Citizens members tended to at least have MORE qualifications because of the rescue unit. I don't know about more recent years, but when I lived there a more accurate overall statement would NOT necessarily be that t...

How about advertisers/sponsors? I co-administer a Myrtle Beach tourist information board that has the exact same format. We have a few advertisers/sponsors that are posted at the top of the discussion forum index page and each page, but the rules prohibit them or anyone else from advertising in the ...

Banksy,

Yea, I guess that is an exception.

Therefore, I'll rephrase my claim:

"Bottom Line - the site is EXCEPTIONALLY worthless!"    :? 8)

Bottom Line - the site is TOTALLY WORTHLESS. And all the LAME EXCUSES given in the past will now fall on uncaring and deaf ears... Banksy: My deepest sympathies regarding your mom. I don't know if I knew her or not. This is a prime example of a real value of the Tyrone.Pa site. Even more amazing is ...

John, Yea, I kept up with the reasons why they folded through this board and a few other sources. What a shame, the folks of all volunteer fire departments, EMS services, etc really put a lot of effort, time, risk, etc into something that returns very little other than some self-satisfaction, occasi...

Fire Department Since Citizens is Gone

Ruby is right (as usual  ) - the message board has been rather quiet lately. I've been curious about something: How has the Tyrone Fire Department been doing since the Citizens Company closed? Did most members go to other stations? Did some give up volunteering altogether? Was most equipment di...

Ruby, I think a hotel/motel would be great for downtown Tyrone. I have an idea. Since we have about 78,643 TOO MANY hotels/motels here in Myrtle Beach, why not send one of OURS up to Tyrone? Maybe even some of the beach with it (but not TOO much water; you had enough downtown recently). AND... I thi...

The following is a Letter to the Editor in today's (Monday, Oct 25) Sun News, the daily newspaper for Myrtle Beach, SC. I'd have to say that this is a fine example of what band participation in school can do to benefit the student, community, and much more. It obviously happens all the time, and I c...

Drums

Drums.

DRUMS!!!

Well, here I am - over 30 years AFTER high school band drumming - with about $9,000.00 worth of electronic percussion equipment in the same room as this computer.

How many high school flute players can progress to THIS level of being a real pain to THEIR neighbors?

Yea, I'd say it's a combination of the flood's effects with pretty much a "petering out" of the previous discussion issues.

However, new events and issues - plus refreshing topics presented by others - will keep me checking often regardless.

As I mentioned in another response (on the Kathy Shea subject), WTRN has a website that IS updated often, although it's more oriented toward community events and nostalgia than daily news. Their site now also features a theme of the NICE SEPTEMBER WEATHER, accompanied by a photo of piled-up snow wit...

I just checked the WTRN website for the first time in...ages. It features a large feature about Kathy Shea, along with the aged-enhanced picture. The WRTN site IS updated often, although it's more oriented toward community events and nostalgia than daily news. However - on a current-issue note - the...

Strange...as I was reading the above posts, I had The Weather Channel on. I heard mention of the flooding in Pennsylvania. I looked up just in time to see a lot of flowing water - and a caption underneath that said "BELLWOOD, PA". I only saw about 2 seconds of it; couldn't identify anythin...
