Re: All Aboard!
Juniata Valley Audubon's already made 2 presentations to Borough Council, given them binders full of information, had several articles mentioning Juniata Valley Audubon's objections, and spoken out forcefully in several forums regarding Ice Mountain. ...keep in mind that Gamesa's reps are paid to d...

All Aboard!
--- From what I've gleaned from reading Bill's entries, Gamesa likes to give decision makers, like Borough Council, tours of it's facilities. I think it'd be very useful for opposition groups like Juniata Audubon to host the same kind of tours. It would provide a perfect opportunity to point out pro...

Re: Restaurant Inspections
. I think this entry from the Zoning Discussion of Sept 05, is germane to the current topic. I present it for your consideration... Now let me get you fellas straight on this. When my pappy passed away he told me three things: 1) don’t trust women, but don’t take up with men. (That's kinda two, but ...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
Now, and I'm totally serious, get that petition and head for the Bingo Hall tonight! I agree 100%. I'd also consider taking them to other places like church services, markets, etc... Anywhere you've got a large captive audience. Since everything seems to hinge on residency in the borough - you'll w...

Re: Restaurant Inspections
. I heard that the Snyder Township Supervisors are going to try and generate some extra revenue from the recent spike in roadkills. Rumor has it, they're set to open a new restaurant next to the Dollar General store called "The Flatmeat Cafe". - I think this is just the first step of a mo...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
Have you ever had a little chipmunk come up to you and take a peanut out of your hand ?? Have you ever had a squirrel come up to you and take a peanut out of your hand ?? Both chipmunk and squirrel sitting and waiting for their daily peanut... then go off on their merry way into their own little wo...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
Maybe I am old fashioned but isn't a petition, if done correctly, the people's voice. Go door to door and explain how important this is to you, I would prefer it be done without scare tactics, and show both sides, but that never happens. So you push your one sided story to the people and get them t...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
But I am not impressed with the actions of Dr. Katola....passion or not, ranting and screaming You all are a bunch of liars did not impress me in the least. What is did seem to do though is fuel the fire which I believe was his intent. I don't agree with those tactics at all. I have never been an a...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
`
There was a lot of talk this morning at church about the windmills.
Most of the people I spoke with said they were attending Weds. night.
Sounds like there's going to be a good turnout.
I like the sports analogy.
Go Tyrone! Beat Gamesa! :flag:
Stop The Spanish Imposition

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
"DEP acknowledges that it summoned police that night to force removal of anti-wind farm exhibits and signs from the building where the hearing was being held. Gamesa's exhibits were not touched." ""If there is any question if DEP is not doing its job because it is Gamesa, the an...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
I also thought it was interesting that Gamesa bussed 40 steelworkers to the meeting. "About 40 yellow-shirted United Steelworkers union members who work at the Gamesa blade factory in Ebensburg were among the few supporters. They came on a bus and hooted back at wind farm opponents." . I'...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
Here's an exerpt from an article about a Somerset County community fighting Gamesa over their plans to build a wind farm on Schaffer Mountain. It quotes a Gamesa Rep talking about Jubelirer. Included below is a link to the entire article. Link to the full article This article made my blood boil. It...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
Let me put it this way...I for one would rather sit down to a face to face and discuss an issue than be screamed at because someone feels they are right. If we both were screamers and thought both of us were right....who would win? the one that could beat their thoughts into the other? A chill pill...

I agree. I think you could describe it as having "unique" and "exceptional conservation value."sandstone wrote:Yesterday's post by George M. ought to be required reading for all Tyrone Borough Council members.
