Re: Fuel/Gas Prices... Let the Protests Begin!
One other thing... regardless of whether or not you believe the government should or needs to get involved in the oil/fuel/gas issue, they are going to have to at some point. One reason will be that if Americans continue to cut back their driving and fuel purchases, that means the federal and state ...

Re: Fuel/Gas Prices... Let the Protests Begin!
A couple things about the gas in PA. 1) The state of PA does NOT test gas to make sure the octane level that the stations are selling, are really that number. Like 87,89,92,94... all the states surrounding us do. For whatever reason, PA doesn't. In all honesty, the 87 you are buying really might onl...

They are going on strike April 1 because they are upset about the high price of diesel fuel. (more...) http...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
If that's Bob Kutz the union-guy from Altoona and frequent WRTA caller, there's only two real reasons he's all for wind energy... Union jobs and Gov. Rendell . He is a full blown, unabashed Democrat and ardent Rendell supporter and all his initiatives. Remember, Rendell is the one who brought in Gam...

That I can agree with you about 51%.anne onimous1 wrote: It's not that the folks of Tyrone don't care about or are not interested in what is going on with the building, it's just that they've gotten used to the same old same old and are tired of wasting their breath.

Re: vacant buildings in tyrone
I agree with 80Cobra. The boro was in no hurry to get anything done with the Y because they couldn't afford it. Glenn took a huge burden off of the taxpayers of Tyrone. The asbestos (removal and disposal) will likely cost more than the building. All is yet to be seen. The borough should be at least...

Re: vacant buildings in tyrone
Bucktail you always want to bash Glenn Ray, what about S&A homes they havent done much of anything with the Lincoln School, ..... Dude... do you even take the time to fully read what I (or anyone else for that matter) write, or do you just skim? Go back re-read the 2nd entry (March 14, my first...

Re: vacant buildings in tyrone
Gambleing is legal in PA., why not take advantage of it ?? Nice dream. But that will never happen. 1) Given it's proximity to Penn State, there have already been ethical issues brought up in the legislature and with the Gaming Control Board about the largest student body in PA being suckered into a...

Re: vacant buildings in tyrone
The city was not in a big hurry to do anything with it. Mr. Ray will do what is right, but I think there are people who would also like to see it stay. The Boro should have been and ought to be in a hurry to have a final outcome determined with the building because it is creating a public hazard cu...

Re: vacant buildings in tyrone
Glenn Ray probably got hosed on that deal. I seriously doubt that. As a professional demolition company, I would hope that he first analyzed the building to the fullest extent. I would also believe that he knew full well what he was getting into and what that building has inside and out. However, i...

Re: vacant buildings in tyrone
Best idea.... Knock 'em down. Renovation of old existing structures is either the equivalent or more expensive in costs than tearing them down. It's really not cost effective given the interior and exterior conditions most of the structures are in, particularly the ones mentioned. That is unless yo...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines
So, does that mean that the Council will probably not be making any final determination until May on this issue? I doubt Gamesa will like that seeing as how they are pushing for an approval/final determination NOW... My other question is if this "informal survey" polling question will hold...

Re: Sewage Treatment Plant mandate
Are we missing the point? Concern about the water quality in the bay is real and justified. However, bay or no bay we should be reducing nutrients (read as pollution) in the Little Juniata River for the benefit of the local people and the Tyrone economy. Bill Anderson I think we need to look at bot...
