Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Thanks Ice Man for posting the informative article from the Asheville Citizen Times. I've been hearing whispers of Wind Energy for a couple of years here in Franklin and other Western North Carolina towns. I fear it's coming, sooner or later. Especially since our present Administration thinks it's ...

Huge industrial windmills on ridge tops a bad idea August 27, 2009 by David Gantt in Citizen-Times We are blessed in Western N.C. with breathtaking views of layer upon layer of Appalachian ridge tops. In 1983, Sugar Top Condos were built on the top of Sugar Mountain in Avery County. Sugar Top Condos...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Hi folks, Excellent article with quotes by scientists on the wind “gold rush”. Note that wind is an example of energy sprawl. I put some of the article to red, to highlight scientists’ comments. Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Wind technology is a lot of dumb and ugly in service to ignorance and greed. Because it produces no capacity value, is inimical to demand cycles, and provides only early nineteenth century power productivity (in the process destabilizing the match between supply and demand and making everything and ...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Until recently, clean energy didn't noticeably affect rates because it accounts for just 3% of U.S. power generation. That's changing as utilities scramble to meet state quotas, says Standard & Poor's analyst Anne Selting. Among rate increases: • In Arizona, Tucson Electric Power has raised rate...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Is there any satilite photos sites that show any of the turbine sites. I have checked Google Earth but imagery seems to be too old. I am not taking sides on the issue. I no longer live in Tyrone or the surrounding area so my opinion doesn't apply. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s139/sandstone1/...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

SIX TURBINE LOCATIONS WERE DEEMED AS HAZARDOUS TO AIRCRAFT AT ANY HEIGHT !! The six turbines in the very southwest portion of the project, turbines SR-S1 - SR-S6 were all denied by the FAA as of July 30, 2009. That's all the turbines on Slide Mt. I'd say that this, combined with the news about the ...

Hi folks, The greatly anticipated book on Wind Turbine Syndrome should be available in October. Note that Dr. Pierpont recommends that wind turbines should be at least 2 km (1.242 miles) from people’s homes. http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/green-living/are-wind-farms-a-health-risk-us-scient...

Re: Windmills on Ice Mountain - Gamesa Wind Turbines

Hi folks, I just checked the FAA website, to get details on the Sandy Ridge project. Gamesa has applied for 28 turbines. I was surprised to see that each turbine is listed as 475 feet tall. Each turbine's lat and long are listed, and there is a small topo map for each turbine location. The FAA has n...

You and Supervisor Charles Diehl ought to be pals, since you both love Gamesa so much and could care less about Ice Mountain.
