Anyone miss the ice cream from Central PA? My favorite places were/are Myer's Dairy just outside State College and Ritchies (spelling?) near the Blair County airport.

Leep - I see you are in Butte. I lived in Great Falls for a few years in the late 70s.

Seems many of the ex-pats on this board have relocated to Florida ....

kbowden raises an interesting issue on scrapple - what condiment to put on it. I thought it was a practical joke the first time a waitress (in Tyrone, I believe) served up some scrapple and brought maple syrup with it. What was the syrup for? I had been raised to put ketchup on it! Found out later t...

BeachBiker - Good points. And, yeah, I was thinking of Palmino's Pizza, too. Yes, urban areas can offer some culinary advantages. For example, I will probably have some killer Korean or Japanese for lunch today (maybe Thai). Unless Blair County has changed significantly since my last visit, the Asia...

Had to love being able to load up the basic steak and roll at SandwichWorks. My favorite was the buyer-enhanced pizza steak. Still haven't found sandwiches out here (California) to rival the ones from Central PA. Yeah, there was a Works near BG and one not too far from AAHS. I forgot about the one i...

tyroniepa, I graduated in 1975.

I am not familiar with the Hub. Where was that?

Another favorite of mine from back there is the Greenwood Steakhouse. And how about the Sandwich Works - there used to be a couple in Altoona.

Banksy - No, I am not an actor though I play one on TV (sorry, couldn't resist). Seriously, no, I am not. The last acting I did was in the 4th grade Easter play.

I have been visiting this forum off and on for a while, mostly because it provides info on local sports. However, it is the discussion on food that has caused me to register. Oh, do I miss East End! Whenever I get to Blair County the one place I must visit is East End Pizza. My standard order is a 1...
