Forum Rules... Updated 9/4/2007

Post by Rick »

The tyronePA forums have grown tremendously over the past few years and we thank all of you for being a part of this growing community.

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact me.

General Rules (Notice how simple I have kept this list)
  • While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.

Please perform a search before posting on a subject. If the subject had already been discussed, please post in that thread.

Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.

We also do not allow posts that are sexual in nature or violate tyronePA community standards. The tyronePA team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

Discussion of illegal activities are not allowed.

Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.

We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.

Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules.
Bottom line, it's really simple. If you have to ask yourself "Should I say this?" the answer is NO.

We will try to warn offenders about their actions, but ultimately we don't own anyone an explanation for why a thread had been locked, or deleted. The same goes for accounts, is is a privilege to have one, not a right, and we will remove accounts and ban IP's if we feel it is warranted.

User Pruning

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO READ OUR POSTS, they are open to be viewed as a guest, but your must register to post or reply to threads.

As the forum continues to grow, I will be routinely trimming the memberlist under the two, simple guidelines...
  • Members with zero post counts, who have been registered for over 6 months may be deleted. This is primarily to combat spammers, or hotlink phishers.

Established members with no logins within 12 months may be deleted. This is to keep the memberlist manageable, and succinct.
Warnings/Banning

In an effort to keep the forums civil and free of personal attacks, we will begin using a system of warnings and temporary/permanent account banning.
  • Warnings:

For the most part, it's three strikes and you're out.

Within a revolving 30 day period, the following action(s) will take place if you violate any of the above rules.

First offense: You will receive a warning through the bulletin board system, this is different than a PM from me, it is tracked in the PHPBB system.

Strike one: You will receive a second warning through the bulletin board system, and you account will be banned for a period of no less than 1 day

Strike two: You will receive a third warning through the bulletin board system, and you account will be banned for a period of no less than 14 days

Strike three: Username will be permanently banned.

The warning system is a closed one, the only individuals that are aware of it's usage are the Admins, and those that receive warnings. Open discussion of members and their forum status will not be tolerated, and may result in additional accounts being banned.

Some offenses will return a higher discipline, and possible immediate banning. This includes, but not limited to personal threats against members/administrators, spam, posting of nudity, online solicitation.

Thanks much, tyronePA staff.
