I saw Death
It was not hard to see
Chest still rising up and down
Jaw movement not yet set
Mouth still moving smile to frown

Yes, I seen the way of the flesh
It was not hard to see
As I looked into the mirror
And it stared back at me

I like this Moses, very much. Death is a part of life, but it doesn't make it any easier when we see ourselves heading towards it, does it? Thanks,

You got that right brother, This one is a little on the Gothic side. I was inspired by Reznikoff's (If there is a scheme), Czeslaw Miloz's ((Encounter), A.R. Ammons, (reflective), Philip Larkin (days), of course Dylan Thomas, (Gentle into the night). Then there is Dorthy Parker, Roethke, and Mackworth, and many more.

A lot of inspiration there. The older you get the more reflective. You know I have been writing songs and poetry since the late 70's and because of this web site( and a little bit of medication ), I finally got the nerve to put em out there.
And for that I am greatful. Thank you tyronepa.com! They say for every 10 poems you get one good one. So I just stay in my class, knowing that I will never make a" Poet Laureate." Thus the pen name Moses , He never made it to the Promised Land. lol

He never made it to the Promise Land, but, if I remember correctly, oh how he tried.
In my own opinion, I find some poems way out (at first), BUT, they catch the attention and make one think.... sometimes, very deeply.
I enjoy them all !! Keep up the GREAT work Moses.

Moses,

Wow! That's a LOT of great influences! It's amazing how many people seem to have written songs and poetry in their life. I love to write, but sometimes it's hard to know how it's received. Thanks for your poetry, Moses, it's all so much fun to read, even if it's a little dark, like this one! Maybe someday you can share a song too. Have a great Christmas holiday too!

Kill my Landlord
by Tyrone Green

Dark and lonely on a summer's night.
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking. Do he bite?
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
Slip in his window. Break his neck.
Then his house I start to wreck.
Got no reason. What the heck?
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
C-I-L my land lord!
