Peace in Confusion

Peace in Confusion

The beauty of the sunshine
Casting shadows 'cross my face.
Three small yellow butterflies
Together dance with grace.

In silence I can hear
The birds singing their song.
Peace and quiet calms the nerves,
But something then goes wrong.

In the distance I can hear
A chainsaw roar to life.
Across the street three lawn men
With machines just made for strife.

Suddenly my peace is gone,
Annoying sound presides.
It seems my mind can't focus
Where dust and noise resides.

Make the most of quiet times,
Treasure your moments there.
Record the sound of nothing,
For these are truly rare.

Learn to savor time alone,
Late night or morning hours.
Watch the tumbling leaf in fall,
Stop to smell the flowers.
