I will not follow,
the timid,
Up the gallows steps.

Bow my head down
For the hangman,
While he puts the noose of submission
Around my neck,
Pulling the rope tight
I will fight.

I was the one who lead my people
Out of the land of the Pyramids.
I was the shot heard around the world.
I was the one who fought,.
To free,
My fellow human beings
from bondage.

I was at Selma.
I sat at the front of the bus.
I sat at the lunch counters.
I stood firm for a living wage.
I was the one who stood against
All wars and
Excessive homeland security
At the risk,
Of being called un-Patriotic.

I was and still am
The one who wears
The Blues,
The Greens,
The Camouflage,
The Whites.
Trained to fight,
For the ones that cannot.

I am,
Freedom
