The Hoagie Not Eaten

Two restaurants emerged in a Tyrone hood,
And sorry I could not eat at both
And be one patron, long I stood
And compared hoagies as far as I could
To which should I pledge my solemn troth?

East End was there first tis true
Yet Mac's hoagie was just the same
And the staff at Macs was friendly where
A friendly greeting at East End was rare
So it seemed that Macs had the better claim

And both that evening had a sale
Two for the price of one with cream soda and chips
Oh, I kept East End for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way.
I knew East End's hoagies would never again touch my lips.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two stores sold hoagies in a Tyrone hood and I --
I chose the one with better service, why?
Because that has made all the difference.
