unloved

Post by watcher »

unloved in the world,
is a quiet tragedy,
for usually no one notices...
you trip by people who
are too busy with their own lives
to notice the ones who are forgotten.
they sit in the bus stations, underground
in the subways,
in the parks,
and we continue our life...
while they try to scrabble on in drug-related crime,
or prostitution,
because they are too young to go home.
they've left their hearts, their dreams
to find a life that's desperate and unkind,
yet, somehow they hope for more...
their drug-induced visions running on into
a real life of love, compassion and a
reason to live...

Author's note:

I wrote this for a quote from Mother Theresa, which says: "Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat". I've been trying to expand and grow as a poet, so I'm writing on allpoetry also. If anyone wants to check out my page, it's magicbeanbuyer@allpoetry.com... Hope you enjoy! :D

P.S. I was actually thinking of runaways when I wrote this...

Very moving, very sad. So many young lives are ruined by these, drugs, prostitution, crime that they discover on the streets after running away.
