Here's a question for my fellow car enthusiasts.

What do you think of the "throwback" cars that have come out of Detroit lately?

Since the originals were cars of the 70's we should be familar with them all.

In order of their re-introduction:

1. Dodge Charger.

2. Ford Mustang

3. Dodge Challenger

4. Chevy Camaro

Personally, I find the Charger disappointing and the Camaro a dismal failure. Didn't the designers of these two cars look at the originals? What were the Chyrsler engineers thinking when they designed the Charger as a four door? The engineers at GM should have gone to a couple of car shows and looked at a few of the early Camaros.

I agree with you. A 4-door Charger is absurd. Performance is very good, though not up to Dukes of Hazzard standards.

Good-looking car, even though I've always been a Mopar man.

Best-looking of the bunch, with lots of variety, from mild to wild (SRT-8). But I'm biased.

Very ugly.

I agree with all your observations.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger has been named “Most Appealing Mid-Size Sporty Car” in the latest J.D. Power and Associates APEAL study. The study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive and is based on surveys from the owners themselves. This year, more than 80,900 people who bought or leased a 2009 model-year car or truck responded to the APEAL Study between February and May. They evaluated more than 90 vehicle attributes after they had had their new vehicles for 90 days.

Racking up the awards, the Dodge Challenger was named AutoPacific’s Best in Class Ideal Vehicle Award for the Sporty Car category.

Mopar or no car.
