You're absolutely correct. It is total and utter frustration. Thanks for the hug.

Have you noticed ?? The High School kids are painting Christmas scenes on some of the store front windows downtown. Lookin' good too !!! :thumb:
Ahhh, brings back some more memories of the good 'ole days. As kids, we looked forward each year to Halloween... we too, painted almost all of the storefront windows downtown with Halloween scenes. The one that was usually painted on the front of the 5&10 cent store, on the 10th street side, won first prize for a good many years. Lugg and Edmonds and Ben Franklin's windows didn't do too bad either. :D

I was digging through the dirt, and couldn't help but notice this old thread. Thought it was a good one to reflect on at the end of the year...

The one thing I miss about Tyrone is the time - at midnight on New Years 1982 (my last year on the police force) - when some unknown simpleton was seen stopping his car on West 15th St near Clay Avenue, pulling out a shotgun, firing it up in the air to celebrate...

...and striking overhead power lines that blacked out that whole area of East End for a few hours. :fogey:

I miss the old railroad station and the tunnel under the tracks. I'm picturing the tunnel, as being dark, gloomy, and brick-lined... with 2 or 3 dim lightbulbs on it's ceiling to light the way out to the middle platform. At one time, especially during WWII, that place was hummming with action. Other times, anyone standing out there waiting for a train would be dressed in their "Sunday Best" attire.... ALL gussied up, prim and proper... because they were going somewhere.
So much for those good 'ole days. The good 'ole days of the little red caboose.

I remember the tunnel...you described it to a T ! I even remeber the old station...It was pretty nice inside...we would eat our Gardner's penny candy in there before we walked home!
I was reading this topic & I also remmber the smell of the nut place...before school in the morning it smelled like pancakes! :D
