Borough Manager

Post by Harlow »

So what does everyone think of the Borough Manager situation? It sounds like the same old stuff is taking place at 1100 Logan Ave. What do the residents think?
I know I would be having a field day reporting on this one.

Take care all

I do not really know what to think. I wonder what all is really going on. To fire him without cause I do not agree with, if that is the situation. I was shocked to see it in the news on TV. They bragged up a storm when he first took over the position and then they boot him??? I cannot wait to hear what ol' Pat Stoner and her gang have to say. The last I heard she refuses to make a public comment. They all stand behind there votes except Virgie. At least she has the guts to admit a mistake when she makes one!>>>>>Unlike STONER!! She SUCKS, I cant wait until she is out of this town!!!!!

I'm also anxious to see what comes out of this. I can't believe they escorted him and his wife and I believe child out of the building. Of course all the rumors are going fast thru town. I heard its over his being able to hire and fire? I think that Mayor Stoner just doesn't want to play by the rules.... anyone else think that?

Before you jump to judgement, let's wait and see what comes out over the next few months as to the reasoning behind the actions.

Is Pennsylvania an "at-will" employment state? Just curious.

Harlow..I would love to see you reporting on this latest situation with Mayor Stoner and her council. It is just another example of the Mayor not following the Home Rule Charter. Did they take action during executive session as was said by Mr. George or during a public meeting? I'm a little confused because the Herald has reported that both happened. And as a Borough manager is he in charge of all staff, such as, the executive secretary? Fill me in,Harlow!!

More fun

According to the Home Rule Charter, the Borough Manager is the one in charge of the Borough employees.

He supervises the department heads and the exec secretary works for HIM. The Mayor is head of council. The council decides who the Borough Manager is.

Lets look at things this way. Al Drayovitch wasn't liked by the Mayor. He is no longer the BM. Same thing with Mr. George. I just feel sorry that he moved his family from Nebraska to Tyrone just to take a knife in the back.

If there is a no vote on this council other than by Bill Fink, I would be shocked.

The Mayor is setting up JR Watson to be her hand picked successor. Sharon Dannaway and Virgie are very good friends with the Mayor. The Mayor hand picked Jennifer Bryan for the seat she has.

Personally, I like every person on this council. I just wish that they looked at everything, not one person's point of view.

Do the math, where you see the Mayor, you see the Exec Secretary. There was a problem between her and the borough manager, get rid of the Manager so the Mayor can be Mayor and Borough Manager again.

Hope that helps.

When someone prints the truth, and the first words coming in the office "Who in the H### do you think you are" can give you insight.

Good luck back home.

Thanks,John.....I'm thinking that Mr. George was only trying to do his job and it did not sit well with Mayor Stoner. so she is going to be looking for a person who pretty much does what she likes to take his place.or as you said do it herself. I hope they settle everything soon. They are making Tyrone look bad.

I thought the same thing about our town looking bad. If you looked at the front page of the Herald the last few days you will notice the drug bust and the mess with Mr. George and the Mayor.
They say they are hoping that people will want to move to Tyrone with
I-99 but who is ever going to move to a town with so much trouble going on. There is alot of good in Tyrone, and even though I say "how did I ever end up here" I also know that I can't imagine being anywhere else and feeling "at home".
I just really hope that everything works out for everyone involved and that the story doesn't get ugly. Tyrone doesn't really need more ugly.
As for the drug bust, I keep saying it... Support the Methadone Clinic that is trying to get into Antis Township. Methadone works we just need it to be more available.
JR

This board makes a difference!

You know, the comments on this board really do make a difference and force social change. For example the Herald. The staff is now down to two and the sports editor. I don't really know how long the Mayor has been in office, maybe too long, Don't really know. Politics are politics, and if we the people want change we can make it happen. I have noticed though that many people here do not have access to the internet, that may be a deterant. I have been involved in the non-profit/ political arena for years and it is all about "what do I get out of this". Well, if we want things to change we need to realize how the game is played and play right back.
JR Watson

I see that Harlow is still reporting false information, even if it is from Mich. I will not be running for Mayor next year. As far as the Borough Manger situation, I as a council person will not discuss a person's reason for termination in any public format. I would not make the same mistake that Mr. Lash made on this website. Hey Terry, Pennsylvania is an at will state and the Manager is an at will position, and there is case law to support this type of dismissal.

JR is on target here. No matter how curious anyone is about this situation, there is no way anyone on borough council can discuss the particulars of this man's firing. This is not public information. Unless Mr. George brings suit against the borough, this information will not come out and that's that.

I found it ironic that the Herald was harping on the fact that the borough wasn't releasing this PRIVATE information. Mr. Lash stated in his column that the people of Tyrone have the right to know why Mr. George was fired. No, we don't! It's not anyone's business. I'm not saying it was a right or a wrong decision to fire him, all I'm saying is this info is PRIVATE. We have no right to know. If he was wrongfully removed, a court of law will recognize that and react accordingly, probably in the form of a BIG settlement check.

People, if you're not happy with decisions made by your elected officials, don't waste your time signing petitions at Mac's, make your opinion heard when it counts, on election day.

Congrats JR

Post by Harlow »

I must give congrats to JR Watson for not getting into the details of the reason for dismissal.

By the way, I am in Wisconsin. Pretty close JR.

Congrats for not being in the running for the next mayor. Now, try something new. Vote no just once on a proposal that the Mayor strongly supports. There would be a new vice president of council faster than she can yell at Bill Fink.

I never got to meet Mr. George before I left. I do know from sitting through over a year of council meetings what happens there. Review the voting records on meetings to see if I am falsely reporting. The proof is in the records.

I give JR credit for serving the community. There are so many people who don't bother and complain when things don't go their way.

Akbar was partially right. Signing a petition won't change anything. Voting on election day can make a difference, but only if there is someone to challenge Virgie, Grazier and Latchford. Until someone else steps up, it will continue to be the same way and before you know it, Bellwood-Antis High School will be larger than Tyrone.

Take care and good luck

What can be said. I only add that there are always two sides to a story.
