Love East End Hoagies
I just love East End Hoagies! I would never turn one down. I've been eating them for 42 years.
God Bless Louise. She had a good idea with her business, but none of her children did anything to meet customer demand...nor do they care to.
I've been to Mac's Market and tried a hot, no onion...they are what EAST END use to be!
Like they said before, a great hoagie, with less attitude!

Sir Banksy--
Each hoagie has a story to tell. A song to sing. A scent to... umm... smell.
No. These hoagies do not taste the same, but, are, rather like two delicious sonnets of love. Each formed of the same substance, but, each delivering a different sentiment.
Whether you choose the Double E or the Double G, remember, you choose your heritage.
The hoagie is your heritage and eventually all hoagies merge into one. And a hoagie runs through it.
I am haunted by hoagies.

Donkey Hoagie

Jerry, I know myself. And if I'm on the streets, and it starts to go down, I don't back off, until it's finished.

Well, I must confess. I have had quite a lot of fun reading all these hoagie related posts. I have been eating East End hoagies for more years than i care to admit and I have also tried Mac's "Best 2.99 Onion Hoagie in All of East Tyrone" . After much deliberation I have concluded that I find the East End hoagie to be superior. :thumb: Although the Mac's Hoagie in a little bigger and a Whole penny cheaper, I think the flavor of East End is better and as a side note, I have NEVER been treated badly there. They have always said Hi and treated me in a friendly manner. And I feel confidant in saying that I have probably eaten my share of east end's hoagies and a few other peoples' here that haven't ever had one. Thank you for all the hours of entertaniment you've given me debating this Important Issue.

onions soaked in Wesson oil...who da thunk it???
I loved reading the comments on the now locked thread about East End vs Mac's hoagies! I wished I had logged on during those weeks it was ongoing and I would have loved to have joined in the conversation. Even though I didn't live full-time there, I spent every summer at my grandparent's home on Columbia Ave. and practically grew up in Tyrone and on East End Hoagies. I have to add my 2 cents worth:
I loved East End Hoagies!
I hated their attitudes and unavailability of their product even back then.
I loved Mac's little grocery store, even when I knew it as Herberlings (sp?)
I hated East End's attitudes and unavailability of their product, some things never change.
Get my drift about attitudes?
If I were ever to visit Tyrone again, although it's highly unlikely because no one is left in my family, I would go to East End first for a hoagie, but of course it would be closed for yet another vacation, so I'd take my happy, little butt over to Mac's for my hoagie and live happily ever after. The moral of this story?
East End, either change your attitude and hours to be more customer friendly to keep your so-called "loyalty" base now that you have some competition. Or the next time if I ever get back to Tyrone, your former building with the "gone out of business" sign hanging on the front door, will be the new storage area for Mac's onions!
