That's it!!! A great song, and I know it wasn't too hard for all of you like me, from that time period. Okay a newer one that may be a little trickier...

Hmm...

I’ve been living out of sanity
I’ve been splitting hairs and blurring lines
I am a house that is divided
In my heart and in my mind

I use one hand to pull closer
The other to push you away
If I had two hands doing the same thing
Lifted high, lifted high

I have a broken disposition
I’m a liar who thirsts for the truth
And while I ache for faith to hold me
I need to feel the scars and see the proof

And if we just keep digging we can reach the foundation
Of our souls
And if we just keep cutting all the chains from our hearts
We’ll lose control

And it feels like giving in
It feels like starting over
It feels like waking up, and you know it’s coming
It feels like a brand new day
Open your eyes

Sorry guys, I guess that was a little too hard. That's "If I had two hands" by Jars of Clay. I really like it, even though it's a newer song. Actually, there's a lot of newer songs I like. Anybody else have one to try? Thanks! :w

Here's an easy one.. Classic, but not classy.. I often forget this band simply because I don't hear them that often on the oldies/ classic rock stations:
:ire:
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away

Surrender - Cheap Trick.

In this area, the oldies/classic rock stations play 3 Cheap Trick songs - "Surrender", "I Want You to Want Me", and "The Flame" - quite often. Probably because they still tour through here fairly often; currently touring with Def Leppard and Poison.

It's raining.... I thought of this song as I sat outside eating a cupcake this morning.
Does anyone remember this song ?? An oldie, but, goodie. I can't remember who sang it.... I think Richard Harris.
Someone left the cake out in the rain,
I don't think that I can take it,
'cause it took so long to bake it,
and I'll never have that recipe again....
Oh no....

You're right, My2Cents...it is Richard Harris, "Someone left the cake in the rain" I think. If the cake was left out too long, I think you'd have to start all over again...maybe it is too much effort. Although if the recipe was one of a kind, I wouldn't trash it. It could be baked again...

It's "MacArthur Park". I don't remember Richard Harris' version, I just remember Donna Summer's disco version. That song never made any sense to me!!

Oh thanks, twilz!!! Sorry about that, I was looking at the lyrics, and missed the right title...it is a different kind of song I thought too.

There ya go twiltz, that's the name. The interpretation of that song could be taken different ways. I always thought it may mean a marriage or long term relationship in which two people worked on finding happiness together and forever, finding the perfect recipe to make it work to keep it strong and binding. Then one day, one of them ruined that perfect recipe and split.... leaving the other standing there in MacArther Park, in the rain, thinking, after all those years of being with this person.... after all the ingredients they both put into that perfect recipe.... the result was someone throwing everything away and leaving the other person hurting and knowing that all the work they put into that relationship was gone forever and that person would never be the same again. ROFLOL, just guessin'.....I could be way off, lol.

Spring was never waiting for us, girl
(spring chickens are mean in the henhouse )

It ran one step ahead
( Unlike a bloody nose)

As we followed in the dance
( locomotion )

Between the parted pages and were pressed
( Roses make good bookmarks )

In love's hot, fevered iron
( ohh... I love waffles )

Like a striped pair of pants
( nobody wears them quite like Michael Keaton )

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
( dam that global warming )

All the sweet, green icing flowing down
( frost the cake when its cool )

Someone left the cake out in the rain
( sure blame it on the rain )

I don't think that I can take it
(where's the silver spoon )

'Cause it took so long to bake it
(crockpots are worthless )

And I'll never have that recipe again
( <gone with the <wind>mills of my mind> Before and After Jeopardy & wheel have been on the air for decades )

Oh, no!
( this just means, oh,no!)

I recall the yellow cotton dress
( silk is expensive )

Foaming like a wave
( chickens have stubby legs )

On the ground around your knees
( I cried when I saw a man with no shoes until I saw a man with no feet )

The birds, like tender babies in your hands
( definitely NOT chickens...)

And the old men playing checkers by the trees
( sheetz cleaned house!)

Gonna venture off the path here a bit......

Favorite song of all time?

Lamest song of all time?

And, if I ever hear this song again I'll go mad?
