etc...
but I always thought I'd see you again...
That's a good oldie but goodie Watcher.... "Fire and Rain," by James Taylor...
NMB [shorty].... knew the "Spooky" one.... I too, couldn't get it out of the head for a while.
Your last one, however, ie. ...."I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man." Don't think I ever heard it....
It must have been written way before my time. 8) I'll leave that one open for someone else.

I'm pretty sure that would be Apeman by the Kinks.. :thumb:

Yes it is "Apeman" by the Kinks. It came out in 1972, 2 years after "Fire and Rain."

The song is Midnight Train to Georgia, but there's several artists who did this one, so I'm not sure which one is most recent...

Next

"Something is wrong here
It doesn't belong here
People are locking themselves
Behind their own four walls

It falls from the skies here
But no one's surprised here
And maybe that's the
Saddest part of all"

Too obscure?

The song was by Terry Cashman and Tommy West.

Prior to September 29th, 1973, they were the producers behind Jim Croce's music.

The song is "American City Suite"

I promise no more obsure lyrics.

Just watched this movie, and was wondering if anybody recognized it...I'm going to give a couple hints. Hint # 1, it's a Disney movie ( I think) and Hint #2, it's an Elton John song. But what is the movie? And what is the title? Kind of liked the lyrics for this one, not so much the music though...

...In a crowded street or a deserted square
I'll turn and I'll see you
As if our love were new
Some day we can start again, some day soon

Here comes the night
Here come the memories
Lost in your arms
Down in the foreign fields
Not so long ago
Seems like eternity
Those sweet afternoons
Still capture me

I still believe
I still put faith in us
We had it all and watched it slip away
Where are we now
Not where we want to be
Those hot afternoons
Still follow me

Some day out of the blue
Maybe years from now
Or tomorrow night
I'll turn and I'll see you
As if we always knew
Some day we would live again, some day soon

I still believe
I still put faith in us

The song is "Someday Out of the Blue" from "The Road to El Dorado."

Here are two to try:

"With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down

Helpless people on a subway train
Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them

He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town"

"Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
Well just pass him there
Why should we even care? "

Excellent job! Absolutely right. Funny, those two songs sound like they're related somehow...

Yes the first one is Godzilla and the second is Iron Man.

Next up:

Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's busy, too busy to come to the phone
Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's tryin' to start a new life of her own
Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's happy so why don't you leave her alone
And the operator says forty cents more for the next three minutes

To add a little difficulty, who performed it?
