I'm for the current date (typically the Thursday before Halloween)

The night of haloween has often been accompanied by events including, but not limited to, crime and occult activity.

Having our kids out on a separate night at least seems to move them away from the actual evening of haloween.

Also, by having it on a school night, you tend to limit the time of the evening that kids will be out in the middle of the night, finding things to do.

I never understood why trick or treat night is not on Halloween here. I guess having it on the same night each year helps with planning?

There isn't too much to plan.... you get a costume for your kid, buy some candy, and knock on some doors. If it were always on 10/31, it would still be the "same night," right? It would be nice to understand why they have to schedule it for some night other than 10/31. Why not celebrate Christmas on 12/22?

State College has trick or treat night on Halloween, and they don't seem to have any more than the usual problems, and they are a much larger city.

I guess what I meant by planning is, you know without looking at a calendar what night trick or treat will be, if its always on the Thursday before the actual holiday. In Warriors Mark it used to be on the Wednesday before Halloween, but they changed it to be consistent with nearby Blair county. Too many complaints of riff-raff coming in to trick or treat in our little town (their words, not mine). In any case, I don't anticipate Tyrone changing the date unless the rest of Blair county does.
