Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
I recently heard that in Colorado they are now telling people they can not use green, red, or blue lights because they represent Christmas or Hannukah. Other people are saying we shouldn't say Merry Christmas. Or we shouldn't have Christmas trees because they're a religious symbol. I wonder what everyone thinks about this topic...any opinions?
I'm wondering if soon there will be Christmas music either...I think it's very sad myself.

Re: Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
The past couple of years I have always said Happy Holidays. This year I have decided I will wish all a Merry Christmas. Period.

You know frankly, I am d*mn sick and tired of always being told by others what is politically correct to do with my life! From now on, just dare to cross me and tell me what I can or cannot say, what color my Christmas lights should be or how I should wish anyone a joyful celebration! Hey, wait a minute.....I've been living my whole life like that anyway..... :bluebounce:

Agreed, I can't wait for politically correct to be politically incorrect. Everyone is offended to the point they want to litigate. It is okay to get offended now and again, you don't have to sue somebody over it. The ACLU feeds off this stuff and uses it as a platform to fill their coffers. Merry Christmas you SOBs.... and to whoever else reads this.

Re: Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
I'm Catholic, and I think taking the Christ out of Christmas is a bunch of bull-you-know-what. If we take religion out of the Holidays, all we are left with is a bunch of out- of-control superficial commercialism.
Re: Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
Thanks for the responses, everyone! I agree, SoccerMom, having Christmas with no reason to celebrate the holiday seems rather pointless to me. We are celebrating a birthday, right? Oh, wait, can I say that? Happy Birthday, Jesus! :bluebounce: And Happy Hannukah too everyone too! I suppose I should say Happy Kwaanzaa, and Happy Holidays also! It does get a little crazy after awhile!

BLINKING BABY JESUS
My wonderful, talented, creative, and obviously handsome, husband, a few years ago made a wooden silhouette to be used as an outside decoration at Christmas for our manger scene. We purchased the large plastic lighted Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus. We completed the scene with real hay and the Star of Bethlehem (lighted, of course). Ahhh, can you picture it?
At the start of this Christmas season as we brought down and dusted off our decorations, we realized that baby Jesus had blown a bulb. That same wonderful husband went and purchased a replacement bulb for our Jesus. The question posed to me was honey, is it an issue if baby Jesus blinks? A slight oversight was made in the purchase of a blinking bulb. Yes, our baby Jesus blinks. On, Off, On, Off, On, Off. Laughter was my first response. My initial look at our blinking baby Jesus brought more of the same reaction and in our life the moments that make us laugh, we try to keep alive awhile. So baby Jesus blinks on and on. Each time I turn the corner to our street, my focus has automatically started to become blinking baby Jesus. A Voice in my heart says “there is a lesson in there somewhere, a lesson in a Jesus that blinks.
What is a blink anyhow? A glimpse, a glance, a momentary gleam, this blinking definitely obscures how we see Jesus. I think in this life at one time or another all of us have allowed our Jesus only enough room in our lives to blink. Salvation . . On, Doubt . . .Off; Hope . . . . . On, Fear . . . Off; Peace . . . . On, Turmoil . . Off; Forgiveness . . . On, Bitterness . . Off; Love . . On, Anger . . Off. As I continue to ponder the blinking, I am struck by the absolute truth that the light of Jesus, my Savior, your Savior, the Savior of the world never, ever blinks! The blinking comes when I allow the Light to be enveloped in darkness, when I close the eyes of my heart, to the Truth in the Light. God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. (1 John 1:5-6)
Yes, our baby Jesus still blinks on and with each blink, I have begun to ask myself what makes the Jesus in me blink? What have I allowed in me to keep the Light hidden? At the center of me is a bulb that does not blink, the Love that does not fail, The Spirit that does not sleep. And therein, I believe, lies the lesson for us all, my much loved brothers and sisters in Christ. The light of God is always ON. What is it in the center of you that turns Him off?
All our love and All Gods Blessings,
The owners of blinking baby Jesus,

Re: Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
What a beautiful and profound thought to share at this time of year! Thanks for sharing! I need to absorb that one myself more and more often. I've found myself thinking a LOT about Christmas this year. What should my focus be? What direction am I going in ? Am I really making a difference? But if my focus is on God, I think that's when I stay steady, because He is right with me, no matter what I'm going through. Merry Christmas!!! :thumb:

I gotta better idea: pass a law that makes all the atheists and secular humanists go to work on Christmas.
They may not believe in Jesus, but they sure believe in an extra vacation day.

Jerry, I know myself. And if I'm on the streets, and it starts to go down, I don't back off, until it's finished.

Re: Christmas/ Hannukah/ holidays
I got a shoosh, for the first time, yesterday when I said "that word"... you know, that word, CHRISTMAS !!! I couldn't believe it !!! Was told we have to start learning to say Happy Holidays. Tell ya what... I'm not your everyday, cross-kissin,' what a friend we have in Jesus, Christian... BUT in my own way, I believe, and no one can take that from me!!! If I want to say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" with ALL the true meaning behind it, by God I'm gonna' do it !!! What are they gonna' do... take my birthday away ?? Well, they probably could since they are able to take HIS away !!! I cannot believe what this world is coming to... this is a huge company, telling it's employee's to not use "that word" in any correspondence or memo's. I can almost see what eventually will happen on down the road with the future generations !!! Oh well, at least we had something to look forward to each year... and we believed in everything they said in that CHRISTMAS story.... O Holy Night was, and still is, something they can never take away !!!
