Restaurant Inspections

Post by 150thBucktailCo.I »

Today, I was surprised while reading the Altoona Mirror that the OIP in Tyrone was listed as OUT OF COMPLIANCE following an inspection date of Nov. 29 with 17 violations on the Food Inspection Reports on page A5.

Now, this isn't a witch hunt against OIP since my family and I eat there occassionally. Nor is it against anyone else. But, I do believe that we need to make each other aware of issues that could seriously affect each other.

For those of you interested, here's a link to the Food Facility Inspection Report.

There was also one listed for the Pizza Hut which had 8 violations but remained COMPLIANT.

Also, here's one for Snappy's that had 3 violations but remained COMPLIANT.

Thanks for the info.

Don't you just love when you go into certain sub shops and the submaker handles cash from the guy in front of you and thinks that it is ok to continue making subs because his hands are still clean. Change your d*mn gloves.

P.S.- They should have sent the DEA to one establishment listed instead of the Dept. of AG.

Hate to say it, but three of us in my family just got really sick from Pizza Hut last Friday. We eat there pretty regularly, but this time it was food poisoning galore. Great to see that they were out of compliance on 'personal cleanliness' among other things. YUCK!!!

I was disgusted by this too! We occasionally eat at both OIP and Pizza Hut. We haven't gotten sick, but it doesn't make you think about some not so great things! At least Burger King isn't on the list, my kids loves those goofy IDogs they have right now, though I try to avoid fast food as much as I can!

.

I heard that the Snyder Township Supervisors are going to try and generate some extra revenue from the recent spike in roadkills.

Rumor has it, they're set to open a new restaurant next to the Dollar General store called "The Flatmeat Cafe".

It appears they've already begun to test market their own brand of barbeque sauce.

They're betting that once the Gamesa Windmills are installed they'll have plenty of fresh bird meat to add to the menu.

Now, I'd be willing to bet that Gamesa and their supporters might just find that comment "fowl".

I guess one of the Township Supervisors got the idea after a recent trip to West Virginia.

Apparently, the newly installed WV Windmill Farms have rejuvenated the floundering flatmeat industry.

BarBQ shacks have cropped up at edge of every Windmill installation.

It seems the repeated blows from the whirling turbines tenderizes the bird meat, making it especially succulent.

The steady flow of bird and bat carcasses have been described by natives as "manna from heaven".

I think this is just the first step of a more global plan to boost tourist revenue.

Word is that the Supervisor's plan to leverage the striking similarities between Snyder Township and West Virginia as a tourist draw.

Plans are already in the works to hold a "Sndyer Township Slogan" contest.

Some ideas being tossed around already are:

"Better Than West Virginia"

"Land of Windmills and Landfills"

.... and my personal favorite

Appalachia - The Way It Used To Be

I believe you're correct Zap.

As part of this initiative, Supervisors have also directed Township residents to begin addressing them as Larry, Darryl and Darryl.

It can get a little confusing at Township meetings.

You have to look directly at the Darryl you want to talk to - or both will respond.

I personally find it hysterical. That guy was short and a little rude with me the last time I was in there(OIP).Which BTW was over a year ago, I refuse to patronize the place. Now my colon and gut owe me one.
