Simplify
There once was a day in our country,
When life was so simple and sane.
You cut enough wood for the fireplace,
Built a cabin to shelter from rain.
You sewed simple clothes for the family,
And planted a garden out back.
Wildlife was shot in the forest,
And neighbors helped those who had lack.
They worked at their trades on their own land.
No need to commute here and there.
Time with the family was natural,
With playing and reading and prayer.
Maybe in this there's a lesson:
That we all must simplify,
To help keep peace and contentment,
And to keep life from passing us by.
