Re: Tyrone Marching Band

Just a reminder to anyone in the area that the Tyrone band concert will be held this Thursday, November 20th at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The concert will feature the high school concert, jazz, and marching band (and maybe the middle school band? I'm not sure. Sorry.). Come support the ...

Re: Tyrone Marching Band

By phasing out, I mean not allowing new girls to tryout each year. As current members graduate, the squad becomes smaller and smaller, until eventually there aren't any left. Having a color guard unit of all "silks" seems to be a popular trend with high school bands. Hopefully the Tyrone band ...

Re: Tyrone Marching Band

Thanks for the great explanation. I have noticed a big difference in the band this year and you guys keep getting better!
I hope you do "shoot for the stars" so to speak, and get into the championship flight again. Anything you set your minds to is attainable. I'm sure you've heard the days of old ...

Re: Tyrone Marching Band

I was a member of the aforementioned St. Marys band back in the day, but I'm always impressed by the Tyrone band. They always look and sound great, what a dedicated group of kids! I've heard rumors that they are phasing out the majorettes, is this true? Just curious, I was a majorette, and when a ...

Re: Tyrone Marching Band

That's great; good job! I have a question. It looks to be different than when I was in school. Why is there a regional and championship division? When did they start that?

I'm assuming they just started it this year, unless I've been completely oblivious the past two years of my marching ...

As President of the Tyrone Marching Band, I'd like to send out a congratulations to the band for, and inform the community of, our first place finish at the regional level at chapters!

The band took home the first place regional banner and trophy, along with high music, visual, and auxillary, with ...

Humm... Thinking about it, the new band director could choose a new piece of the Star Spangled Banner.... Oh well, I'll still work on it until I hear otherwise, hah. ^_^

Re: Tyrone band Support

I am glad to hear that the band will have a new director. I know that they will have some building years too. I just hope that the Star Spangled Banner and the Alama Matter sound better than in previous years. I wouldn't even mind hearing the version of the S.S.B. that we played when I was in ...

Not yet.

good news for now everyone...the school board has made a compromise not to cut anything from the music department this year. However, what this means for next year nobody knows. I just thought i'd pass on the word that the music department is spared for one more year.

Although this is great news ...

Did any of you go to the 5th 6th grade concert last night?
I planned on going, but I had to be at church, so I missed it... :(

My mom was there though, and my sister was in it. I heard it was PACKED from a lot of people. That's good. ^_^

It looks to me like Julio did post an apology of sorts. So the recent attacks were unnecessary.

Okay. Guess I misunderstood what was going on.
I think it's cool that kids learn how to play music.

Apparently some people are better at reading music than they are at reading English.

If you don't have a strong sports program there's really no point in having a band, right?
I mean, come on, their only purpose is to provide some entertainment at halftime - that and march in a parade every once in awhile.

I have 2 more years in the football program - so I'd rather see them ...
