East End Hoagies
I have played around with the idea of figuring out a way to ship East End Hoagies. First, the cost would be a little high. I figured for four sandwiches it would look something like this:
Sandwiches 12.00
Express Ship 15.75
Styrofoam Ship Cont 4.00
Frozen Ice Packs 3.00
Total 34.75
Business Tax(Profit) 4.00
Total 39.75
Rounding up .24
Total 39.99
Now you could add the box of chocolates from Gardiners but that would add about $25.00 to the cost.
If there were a bunch of people out there that would buy for that rate then it would be worthwhile.

Aw, come on now, Jeff Faust was really a pretty good guy and a good cop. He just looked a bit "gauky" because he was sorta tall and thin, with a long face. We called him "Muldoon" on the force becasue of a resemblance to the character "Muldoon" on the OLD "Car 54, Where Are You" TV series in the early 1960s. You all remember "Toody and Muldoon", don't you? Oops - showing my age again...

Side note: "Muldoon" was played by Fred Gwynn, who also played "Herman Munster". Nowadays, I'd say Jeff's resemblance was also close to John Kerry.
Wasn't Jeff also with the Neptunes Fire Co in the late 1970's into the early 1980s?
Anyway, Jeff married his long-time girlfriend (A Hunter girl from Park Ave, and distant relative of mine) and took a job with the Northern York County (PA) Regional Police Department in about the mid-80s. I ran into him occasionally down there during a special-duty military assignment I had in that area during the late 80s to early 90s.

I am very thankful that I no such nicknames.banksy wrote: One other thing I miss about Tyrone....the names we had for the cops!
However, I DID get called names occasionally when out on patrol, but it was cases of mistaken identity.
With my (then) curly brown hair, wire glasses, mustache, and - ahem - usually sitting on a pillow to look taller - people would often shout insults at me at a bit of a distance, but call me by one of a couple of other officer's names.
I would hear something like "Hey, UP YOURS "*****"(officer's last name).
I'd reply "But I'm not "******".
Then they'd shout: "Well, then up YOURS "****** (OTHER officer's name).
And I'd reply: " But I'm not "*******", either!"
By then, they'd be close enough for a positive ID and say "Oh, HI "*****" (correct name), How's it goin'?"

East End said NO
I already asked about that and they said outright NO. So it will have to be an entrapreneaur (sp) to put that together.

I asked the lady in there about it a few months ago, and she told me they have tried it. They tried dry ice, frreze packs like Omaha Steaks, etc, but everything they tried really didn't work. She told me they won't do it. So, if you want to do it, you need to have someone buy them and then have them do the shipping part.
Next time I go in, I might try it. Anyone want to be my first customer in a "dry run?" I wll do it AT COST to see how it works. Beach Biker, what about you?

In a way I would like to TRY it, but ONLY if it was part of a package deal that also included some Mario's pizza/subs, Country School Chicken chicken/steak sandwiches, Hub pizza, etc (well, at least East End is still in business from that list!).banksy wrote:Next time I go in, I might try it. And, with MY luck, something would probably go wrong that causes some type of biological transformation of the ingredients during transit, leading to a developing spoilage requiring extensive hospitalization and antibiotic treatment. That means someone else could be at home playing my drums and riding my Harley.
OK, seriously, perhaps the concern of the product not staying "stable" or at that "fresh-made" quality is what East End staff is concerned about - with some potential legal liability factors associated with it - and I would agree with their decision (if that is the situation).
As I said in a post a few months ago, we did get some Mario's subs a few years ago, before they closed, as we left Tyrone on our way back home to the beach. We kept them wrapped and in a large cooler, intending to eat them on the beach the following morning.
They lasted as far as a rest stop somewhere along I-77 in Virginia or North Carolina before temptation lead to their consumption. And that happened TWICE, not once...
